am i in your way?

This video was created in response to a brief that asked us to sit and analyse a road in Bristol, assigned to us by our lecturers, for 5 hours straight. Gathering as much research and information we could.
My assigned road was Pipe Lane, the road next to Bristol Beacon in the city center.
Through my analysis of people that interacted with the road, I found that because I was sat in a busy area for a prolonged period of time I was getting weird looks. As if people were trying to figure out why I wasn’t going anywhere, why I wasn’t using the road as it was intended - to pass through an area of Bristol in order to get to a different location.
In reponse to this, I spraypainted a sign that asked the question ‘Am i in your way?’, designed using the aesthetics of the various construction and road signs that were present in the area at the time.
I went back to the road, wearing the sign, and asked my friend to film how people interacted with me, with the sign. I was intrigued to see if people would approach me and ask me the meaning behind it, but no one did. People kept to themselves, carried on passing through, occassionally taking a photo of me but not taking the time to learn about the context of the piece.
I created a short video using the footage from this investigation...
